About Tablet Strength Calculator
This free Tablet Strength Calculator helps D.Pharmacy students, nurses, and pharmacists quickly calculate the number of tablets required based on the prescribed dose and available tablet strength.
Formula for Tablet Calculation
Number of Tablets = Prescribed Dose ÷ Available Tablet Strength. For example, if 500mg is prescribed and 250mg tablets are available, then 500 ÷ 250 = 2 tablets.
When is This Used?
This calculation is used daily in hospital dispensing, retail pharmacy, and is a very common question in D.Pharmacy Pharmaceutics practicals, viva exams, and Government Pharmacist competitive exams like ESIC, Railway Pharmacist, and State Pharmacist exams.
Important Note
If the result is not a whole number (e.g., 1.5 tablets), always consult the prescribing doctor before splitting tablets. Not all tablets can be safely split.
